Instrument is a thematic relation used for noun phrases that express use as a tool or method used to conduct the event described by the predicate. For example, the phrase with a rock is the instrument in Calvin broke the window with a rock. In English, instruments are typically introduced using the preposition with or the gerund using. Gaelic uses the preposition le.
