Linguistics (definition)

Linguistics is the scientific study of language. The field of linguistics is divided into 5 "core" fields: syntax, semantics, morphology, and phonology and phonetics and several "interface" fields such as sociolinguistics, pragmatics. psycholinguistics, computational linguistics, language acquisition, graphemics and others.
