Aspiration is a puff of air that accompanies the production of some consonant sounds. This puff can be felt by holding your hand (or a tissue) just in front of your lips as you produce the sound. For a definition of a different phenomenon which is sometimes called 'aspiration' in Gaelic, see Aspiration
