Coronal (definition)

Coronal sounds are those made when the front of the tongue comes into contact with, or comes very close to, any place in the top of the mouth between the teeth and the hard palate. The term 'coronal' may be used to refer to the set of consonants that includes the dental, alveolar and palatal sounds.
